Artwork signifies beacon of hope for Gortview and Killybrack Close in Omagh Tuesday, 27 July 2010

Two large pieces of artwork were today (Tuesday 27th July) officially unveiled at the entrance of Gortview and Killybrack Close, Omagh by Denis Rooney, CBE, Chairman of the International Fund for Ireland as part of the Re-imaging Communities Programme.
The Programme which is led by the Arts Council Northern Ireland through the Shared Communities Consortium, places artists in the heart of communities to work with local people to tackle visible signs of sectarianism and racism to create a more welcoming environment for everyone.

Fund announces £4.1m/€4.9m to promote reconciliation and peace-building
Efforts to support peace-building and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and across the southern border counties received another welcome boost last week with the announcement that the International Fund for Ireland is to allocate a further £4.1m/€4.9m of funds to a variety of projects. The announcement of this latest funding package was made following the Fund’s most recent Board meeting, which took place in Sligo.

New £2M state-of-the-art facilities officially opened at Greenhill YMCA Thursday, 01 July 2010

Greenhill YMCA residential outdoor education centre, today (1st July 2010) officially opened its new state-of-the-art facilities in Newcastle. The event coincides with the relocation of YMCA’s traditional headquarters from College Square in Belfast to its Newcastle base offering the charity greater flexibility and cost savings and enabling it to broaden the reach of its services.
The new complex, which includes a new resource centre as well as self contained and shared residential lodgings will be used by both local and international volunteers to help Greenhill YMCA deliver its wide rang [ ... ]
