Nine women from across North, West and East Belfast came together recently to take part in a Building Good Relations Through Sport Workshop as part of the Women’s Individual Support & Personal Achievement (WISPA) Scheme.

The WISPA Scheme is funded by the International Fund for Ireland through its Community Based Economic & Social Regeneration Programme. The Scheme offers women from Nationalist and Unionist communities the opportunity to gain recognised accredited qualifications in physical activity and sporting disciplines such as Jujitsu, exercise to music and cheerleading.

The aim of the Scheme is to create a network of qualified instructors from the two main communities, increase access and opportunity for all women across the city of Belfast to take part in and enjoy exercise and create opportunities for dialogue and reconciliation within and between the two main communities.
